FAQ

Through your freight forwarder, you choose the freight forwarder, who has negotiated prices, dates and ports of loading, has checked local and destination charges and fully plans and tracks your cargo from the starting to the ending point. More importantly, the importer avoids the coordination of several shippers / agents, which may be involved, if organization of transport is not in importers hands. Choosing a good and trustworthy freight forwarder means a big advantage for you, since only the logistics expert can make sure that your cargo arrives safely and timely.

The seller delivers the goods and hands it over to the buyer on board the ship. From here on, transport costs and transport organization are entirely directed by the customer through its designated freight forwarder. There is a plethora of reasons why this is better for the importer:

- All costs are known in advance under the terms and conditions as offered by the importers freight forwarder

Under CFR/CIF terms, importer has no clear information about the destination charges, which are always much higher than the entire cost of the transportation would have cost, should the cargo be transported under FOB terms.

The deadline for payment of transport in talks with its shippers, which can provide a postponement of the date of arrival of the consignment at the destination port of landing.

All local costs at the port of discharge (costs of the shipper's representative - agent, etc.) are known to him in advance, as his freight forwarder, as a connoisseur of the local market, can clearly convey them to him.

The freight forwarder can organize everything necessary to the final destination (to the buyer's door); this means that they arrange additional services such as customs clearance, port handling, inspection reviews, transportation, storage, and other tasks and wishes of the buyer.

"The buyer avoids additional intermediaries (multiple engaged agents) and thus associated unexpected costs, as their freight forwarder organizes transport with known and reliable shippers who have known appointed agents at the port of discharge (sellers often do not know the local market and shippers represented at the destination port, and they give shipments to shippers who have their agents across Europe).

Most importantly, the importer decides on the service and quality of the transport and therefore controls the critical parts of the supply chain: cost and transit time.

Through your freight forwarder, you select the shipping carrier with whom you negotiate prices, loading dates, loading port, check the local agent's costs (which you would also pay in the case of FOB parity), and time the delivery date of the goods with the day the ship arrives.

The selected freight forwarder can offer you additional services from your door to the buyer's door if you decide to extend the parity (e.g., DDU, DDP). The selected freight forwarder also provides advice on opening a letter of credit, can organize export customs clearance, transport from your location to the loading port, additional handling of goods, inspection reviews, etc.

The seller can track their shipment daily on its way to the destination port.

The seller, through their freight forwarder, hands over the loading instruction to the shipper's agent and receives the original bill of lading (B/L), which is transferable and proves ownership of the goods by possession of the original.

The seller avoids coordinating multiple freight forwarders/agents, as their freight forwarder organizes everything, thus avoiding the buyer's agent and thereby the possibility of problems that may arise due to communication errors between the two.

Choosing a good and trustworthy freight forwarder is a great advantage for you, as they, being experts in transportation and logistics, ensure that your cargo arrives at the destination under optimal conditions—both cost-wise and time-wise.

The fundamental purpose of the Institute’s general average is that if during the time of cargo transportation, the ship comes to dangerous situations in which distressed assets involved in this journey (ship, cargo freight) are at risk, and any of these assets are sacrificed for the common benefit, the owner of the cargo holds the property right for the proportionate reimbursement from all participants on the ship.

This means that the general average is counted as value cargo ships as well as freight and rescue costs.

In case ships must be rescued, are burning, stranding, or are broken, cargo owner must participate in them to the costs of resolving all participants of transportation, commensurate with the value of the property. If the goods are insured, such a loss such as breaking are covered by the insurance company. If the goods are not insured, the cost must be borne by the owner of the goods.

In any case, the transport insurance is also recommended for other loss events, only on the possibility of general average.

More about the Institute general average can be found in the Maritime Code of the Republic of Slovenia 12.4.2001, Articles 788 to 823 line.

Prepustite organizacijo transportnega zavarovanja vašemu domačemu špediterju v Sloveniji. V nasprotnem primeru, če prepustite organizacijo tujemu dobavitelju, boste zelo težko dokazovali škodo in obenem prejeli izplačilo v tuji valuti (t.j. valuti države izvoza), s tem pa tvegate še tečajne razlike in dodatne bančne stroške.

Sea transport from northern China takes approximately 40-45 days, while from southern China it takes 25-30 days. Air transport takes between 3-10 days, depending on the size of the shipment and the place of pickup. Rail transport from northern China takes approximately 30 days, and from southern China, it takes 40 days.

Filling out an export disposition is not optional and is not related to Incoterms. Incoterms only determine who is responsible for paying for the export customs procedure (in this case, your buyer), but this does not change the fact that you are the exporter. Since you are exporting outside the EU, the customs process is mandatory.

We represent you in the customs process, not your buyer, so we are in a business relationship with you, and the buyer is not involved in this process. The export disposition is a contract of representation, an official document authorizing us to act on your behalf. In case of customs control, FURS (Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia) requires documentation based on which the export declaration was made, and in the event of discrepancies, the exporter is responsible, not the customs declarant. FURS also has the right to charge VAT if it is not properly handled and completed.

Načeloma so vsi podatki pomembni na dispoziciji, ključni pa so pravilni podatki in davčne številke kupca in prodajalca, incoterms, vrednosti blaga po tarifnih številkah, teže, poreklo blaga in preferencialni dokumenti in/ali izjave, zahtevane carinske in davčne oprostitve ter morebitna dovoljenja, soglasja, dvojne rabe blaga ipd.

We are always available to assist you with filling it out. The accompanying documents to the disposition are always the commercial invoice, certificates of origin (EUR1, COO), and other certificates and documents (ATA Carnet, ATR, CE). The commercial invoice must always clearly state the Incoterm (e.g., EXW, FOB, DAP, CIF).
